Our approach is to use the best of breed Free/Open Source libraries whenever possible. We like C++ and Boost libraries for high-performance, mission critical components and Python for web development and prototyping. Custom cartography

At the heart of our mapping services is Mapnik - a free high quality cartographic rendering engine. It is successfully used by a growing number of new businesses and projects, at a time when 'one size fits all' is no longer acceptable.

To put it in plain English : if you have some data in vector or raster format, we can make beautiful custom maps and put them on the web and/or create formats suitable for publishing and printing. If you have no data, only an idea, not to worry - there are free sources of mapping data out there such as OpenStreetMap, OpenAerialMap, SRTM, VMAP. For example see our gorgeous relief maps created from raw SRTM3 data. We can also source data from the commercial sector for you where appropriate.

Web mapping

From a small set of statically rendered tiles accessed through OpenLayers, to high-performance, high-volume scalable distributed tile rendering - we can cover the whole range. For web development and integration, our preferred solution is the Django framework.

If you’re making maps for the web, the sometimes competing demands of quality and performance must be balanced. From the outset Mapnik was developed with this in mind.

Data processing

Geographical data comes in many different formats. We have an extensive set of tools and the experience to be able to process/clean/re-project/spatially index data and make it available in a format suitable for the task.
