Innovation inspires me, and the more new stuff I can get my teeth into the happier I am. I've always loved learning, and I'm not put off by the unfamiliar or the complex. Give me those big fat manuals, let me at that obscure code! I'll never be somebody who sticks to the tried and tested ways of doing things because it's more comfortable and easier. After all, there might be something better out there.
I'm not some restless butterfly, though. I love a technical challenge, and once I've got hold of a problem I don't let go until I've solved it. As well as staying power, I bring energy, creativity and intelligence to all my work.
If you're into innovation and technical excellence, you have to be into F/OSS. I want the freedom of going with whatever works best for the project. This may sometimes be a proprietary solution, but often it may not. I truly believe that the F/OSS approach usually delivers better results, and that's before you start thinking about the cost.
I like to cut through the fluff to the heart of the matter, in terms of technology, business and people. The issues and the solutions are what matter, not the egos. This may sometimes ruffle feathers, but that's not my aim. Some might be into politics and empire building, but I'd rather get on with the work. What you see is what you get; I'm straightforward and upfront.
